A Pinch or Nothing

God deserves more

When my kids were younger, each time I gave them a snack and requested for them to give me back, they would often refuse, or in the best case offer me only a pinch. Sometimes I wondered if they had suddenly forgotten that I just gave them what they had.

Do we find ourselves struggling sometimes to give back to God what he has given us freely? Or like my kids, simply give back a pinch?

We are reminded that all we have (life, skills, time, resources etc.) is given to us by a God who gives abundantly but can also withdraw without notice.

But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. (I Chron. 29:14 NIV)
