God sure has substitutes

A painful lesson I learnt

At the start of the COVID, I was involved with a support group aimed to feed some less privileged people in the nearby community. As one of the leaders in this group, we aligned to give from our pockets towards this project. I heard clearly in my spirit a particular amount that I was expected to give. However because the amount was quite high, I felt it was just my mind playing a trick on me. I said to myself , we have about 10 leaders if I give this amount, then I would be outgiving others. I think it is best for me to give others the opportunity to give as well. So I gave less than I heard. A few days after the contribution started, we already got in the purse more than we were looking for. Then I got a call from one of the leaders who wanted to confirm from me about a contribution they received from a member of my cell group in church, that gave a huge amount of money. Though the COVID contribution was majorly open to leaders from the support group, but here was a volunteer who joined in the giving. Also they wanted to be sure that the amount given was not a mistake. Most of us knew the volunteer just recently got a job. When I heard the amount the lady gave, it turned out to be exactly what I heard in my spirit to give initially.

At that moment, I was heartbroken. I knew at that instance that the Holy Spirit was trying to teach me a lesson by even letting me in, on an information which I shouldn’t even know about. I immediately asked God to forgive me of my disobedience.

I learnt from this experience however, that when the lord asks us to do something, he sure can ask many of his other children to do same. God does have substitutes, even better ones. It is always a privilege to be invited to be part of God’s project.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I do not want to be substituted either by my partial or total disobedience. I want to always give ALL of me, and have ALL of you.
