While watching an animal documentary recently, I pondered on the mystery of a God who creates two different animals with both strengths and vulnerabilities. The Tortoise and the Cheetah.

A tortoise runs less than one mile per hour. This is so slow, it is almost impossible for it to be safe from any predator. Yet, its average lifespan is from 80- 150 years. What God has given the slowest animal for survival is its shella safety on the go”, an auto repair DNA, and a very slow metabolism which allows it to go longer period without food or water.

The cheetah on the other hand is one of the fastest animals. It runs at an average of 65–70 miles per hour. (60 times faster than a tortoise). This means it should be able to escape danger easily, fend for food faster and even explore more places. Though its life could appear to be fun and exciting, yet, its average lifespan is between 10–15 years (if it’s lucky).

Lesson learnt from this;

  • God in his fairness, has given everyone what is needed to excel in life. No one is entirely disadvantaged.
  • A weakness can turn out to be a source of ‘safety net’ or some form of advantage.
  • Both strengths and vulnerabilities can be used to one’s advantage.
  • There is no need to envy others, as everyone has intrinsic values which is needed for their survival.

“I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favour to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.” (‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭9‬:‭11‬, ‭NIV)
